Welcome to Dundee Elementary's Computer Lab!

Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!

If you're reading this, you're already on the right path to keeping up with what technology has to offer all of us.....just by using this website.  Please know that I will update this site monthly, offering you updates on what's going on in the computer lab, ideas on how you can help your child, suggestive technology fun and support, and also pictures of the amazing work of your children.

Parents of the littlest DES learners: don't forget that your child will need to know how to type their full first and last name in order to log in and utilize computer programs.  By doing this, we allow the students to save and edit their work from week to week.............VERY important!  Also, please help yourself to the "resource" tab on this website.  Where I'd love to promise you totally safe sites, downloads, etc, you know as well as I do that NOTHING is entirely safe.  This is the very reason that your children will be constantly encouraged to use the computer only when you have parents available to help.

With every new milestone, there are challenges that truly present themselves, and this year will be no exception!  Where last year's goal was to develop an student-centered announcement system and an ebook library of our own, this year's challenge/goal will be a DES newspaper as well as distance learning opportunities for all grades.  My intent is to publish a monthly newspaper created solely by third and fourth grade students.  This will be structured as an enrichment language arts activity where students collaboratively brainstorm, compose, and edit school happenings.  I'm very excited to get this rolling, but I know there will be hurdles to overcome.  Stay tuned for some fun!  As far as the distance learning, I'm putting together hours of research into virtual tours that will supplement classroom lessons.  An example of a virtual tour would be a walk through the Plimoth Plantation during the 1800s.  Hard work and determination can get you through anything, so off to work I go!

Last, but certainly not least, I have a completely open-door policy...........and I welcome any comments, suggestions, requests or ideas.  I'm a general education teacher, so my projects and lessons will always revolve around grade level and technology standards, however I will never claim to know all there is to know in this ever-changing high-technology world we live in.  Thank you ahead of time for learning with us, and I wish you a wonderful 2012-2013 learning experience!
